CBSL in Action
The Community Based Service Learning Program (CBSL) has been in place at Ursuline since 1997. Through this four-year program students grow as persons of faith through appropriate and meaningful experiences of service which support spiritual formation, the philosophy and mission of the school, and the accomplishment of the expected schoolwide learning results.
The CBSL Program involves integrated course work, culminating in a Senior Project. This Project has a service point of view, but involves all core academic disciplines. The community mentor component of the CBSL Senior Project fosters social awareness and spiritual growth. The CBSL program also provides for real world experiences which concretize the educational expectation that students learn respect for individual differences in human beings, and celebrate diversity, regardless of various religious persuasions, ethnicity, gender, age, or other perceived distinctions.
