Prospective Students

Technology

The networked system of computers on Ursuline’s Campus extend the boundaries of learning beyond the traditional classroom and library settings.

All of the school’s computers are networked to the various resources available in the Ursuline Library. On-line database and research programs as well as SAT Prep practice tests and on-line career interest and college match programs can be accessed from anywhere on the campus, and students and parents can access them from home via the Ursuline Website.

On-Line Research

For all types of research from home students can access the Thomson Gale Group Research Databases through our Library subscription. Simply click on Research Databases and follow the instructions on the page. There are thousands of resources available on all possible topics through the Gale Group Databases.

Bridges Program

This college, career, and test link allows Ursuline students to take advantage of our subscription to Choices Explorer, Choices Planner and testGEAR. Choices Explorer guides students through an interest survey and indicates career choices that match a student’s interests and strengths. Choices Planner helps the student connect career choices to college majors and to the colleges throughout North America and Europe which support those majors. The testGear program helps students prepare for PSAT and SAT tests by guiding them through practice tests and helping students analyze and correct their errors. Check on Bridges to reach these resources.

Science and Math

The Science and Math departments require all students to purchase a TI Graphing Calculator. Students are taught to use this powerful calculator at ever increasing skill levels throughout their four years at Ursuline. The departments have a set of scientific probes which connect to each student’s graphing calculator and also to a class set of laptop computers. Students use the scientific probes and the computer programs which accompany them to provide greater visual and technical clarity to the results of their lab experiments and math problems and projects. These technological tools deepen each student’s understanding of complex mathematical and scientific concepts.

Safeguards

We protect our students from access to inappropriate websites and protect our website from spam and viruses through our subscriptions to top of the line protection programs.

Student Acceptable Use Policy for Computer Access

All students sign and commit to the Student Acceptable Use Policy for Computer Access which protects our system from student abuse. Click on the Student Acceptable Use Policy for the full text of the policy found in the Student/Parent Handbook.
