(2.0 mm) nylon line approximately 25 ft. (8 m) long.

Light: 0.065- to 0.080-inch line is best for trimming grass around the house and whacking down common lawn weeds from around driveways, walkways and fences. Medium: 0.080 to 0.110-inch line is best for homes with larger lawns, or gardens overgrown with weeds that have tough, heavy stems. Heavy: 0.110-inch and above.

The Hart 40V battery-powered string trimmer uses 0.095-inch line to cut a 15-inch swath. This is pretty much the average cutting diameter and line for what we expect from capable battery-powered string trimmers.

The battery pack may be stored in the charger; however, it is recommended to disconnect the charger from the power source. Check that the charger contacts have not been shorted by debris or foreign material. Recharge the battery pack whenever there is less power.

The wrong size of line will invariably slow you down. If you go too thick (i.e. heavy) it will not auto-feed in a bump head and it could cause damage to the machine in extreme cases. If you go too thin (i.e. light) you will end up with more frequent line breakages.

The diameter of your line will determine how much surface area it covers as it moves through the air. A larger diameter means more coverage per swipe, but also more weight hanging from your trimmer head, which can affect its balance and performance if too heavy (or worse).

For thin grass and light weeds, a thinner line may be enough. But for thicker grass, heavy weeds, or brush, a thicker line is recommended. Trimmer power: The power of your trimmer's motor is an important factor to consider when you choose trimmer line thickness.

Thicker trimmer line (up to 3mm) is designed for longer grass and can be used for medium-powered trimmers or brushcutters.
